Four guides, each built around a real question.
Who to pay for power, water, and trash, and who to call when something goes out.
How to ride SacRT: buses, light rail, fares, and the services that cover the gaps.
Reporting potholes, streetlights, illegal dumping, and other neighborhood problems.
Food, housing, rent, healthcare, and support for seniors and people with disabilities.
If someone's life or safety is at risk, that's 911, no hesitation. For a mental health crisis, call or text 988. Everything else can go through 311 or the guides above.
Local numbers first, then power and gas, then national hotlines.
Most homes in Sacramento County get electricity from SMUD and natural gas from PG&E, so many households need both numbers. A home with no gas service may only deal with SMUD. PG&E also provides electricity in other parts of Northern California, and a few cities run their own electric utilities, so if you live outside the county your setup may differ. Your utility bill shows which companies serve you.
These work from anywhere in the country, not just Sacramento.
